SO13; T6 - Mystery Of The Candlesticks

TOM504 - Revelation 1:12-20

While on the Isle of Patmos, John came to be in spirit in the day of the Lord. He heard behind him a loud voice which resembled the blast of a trumpet. A trumpet represents something prophetic and a voice depicts a disclosure or enlightenment. Upon turning John saw seven golden candlesticks and as so often happens in the scripture one must look at the symbolism. First, we notice it requires a turning to clearly see what is heard. Next, we find the number seven depicts completeness, covenant and rest, while gold symbolizes the divine nature.

Finally, in Revelation chapter one and verse twenty we discover the seven golden candlesticks represent the seven churches of Asia. Thus, we see a picture of the corporate church clothed with a divine, nature of completion. This golden nature comes from Christ Jesus, who is the High Priest, the King Priest of the Melchizedek order, who stands in the midst of the candlesticks.

Corporately the church is the light of the world. Moreover, the soul is the Lord’s lamp. (Pro. 20:27). Most importantly we discover in this prophetic picture that Jesus is in the midst of all seven churches and he gives rest to a completed covenant people.

Blessings, Pamla
