All Is Well With My Soul

(Making this a true statement)

ALL is well with my soul. I want to not only say those words but to mean them! This seems to be getting more difficult as everything we have known and believed is so rapidly changing. Banks and big businesses are failing, damns and bridges are tumbling down, (even though money has been allotted for the upkeep), the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting even more poor. Our government is going through great turmoil such as astronomical debt, wars in several countries, ineptitude with the voting system, even our tried but true laws are being changed without our consent. Much of what we once trusted to be true seems to be crumbling all around us and worst of all, it seems that we, the people, can only sit back and watch it happen.

Loss of Well-Being

All over this country I am hearing about folks who are losing everything, homes, jobs, and most importantly their sense of well being. As Christians we know our salvation is NOT attributed to the government, it comes from the Lord, but what happens when He no longer provides for our needs the way He used to? We all know that God loves us, we all know that he is our provision, but just knowing does not help when we are in the midst of losing everything we believe God gave us.

If I am talking about something you have not experienced then we praise the Lord with you, but there are brethren who are now saying, “God, I’ve been trusting you and you are really letting me down!” Of course there will be some who will believe it is a sin to even question God for that could be misconstrued as doubt. God forbid! Look at the psalmist, David, who often asked where God was and what was he doing? Why do You stand afar off, O Jehovah? Will You hide in times of trouble? (Psa 10:1) Throughout the Psalms when David encountered difficulties he requested answers from God, yet he was known as a man after God’s own heart. I want to point out that even though David called out to God often, in the end he always made mention that God was his salvation and hope.

So what do we do when everything we know and believe is crumbling around us? We MUST remember our Father loves us with a pure love. Everything that happens to us is part our Father's plan for our lives so that we might show his love to the world. (1Jn 4:16-19) For me it helps to know there are at least two different ways to look at it. Either we missed the mark, and are being punished by God, like the Israelites who did not go into the promised land due to fear, or it could be for God's glory. Remember the man Jesus' healed and the disciples questioned who's fault it was, his or his parents? "Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him."(Joh 9:3)

HEAVEN-SENT?

There is GOOD NEWS for those who are enduring financial hardship and the stress of the constant calls from bill collectors, the phone can be answered with a ‘well word’. Tell them that God is love and nothing that happens is out of his control. This is an opportune time to share the love of God with a person who we do not know nor will we probably ever meet. This day of discomfort in which we find ourselves may be our opportunity to be the witness of God. Even as I type this I wonder how this can be when it seems to be such a bad witness to be in the midst of financial distress. Will they wonder what kind of God would allow us to go through such loss? After all, who would want to serve such a God? WE WOULD!!! Who else can we count on? Who else can we say made the earth and all that is in it? God alone is able to supply our needs and for those of us who have been saying “God give me opportunity to witness for you” THIS is OUR appointed time! As creditors call we can tell them of God’s goodness and we never even have to look into their eyes to find rejection. They will talk to us for as long as the spirit draws them! This is an awesome time of ministry. Have you ever asked to be a missionary? Have you ever begged God for an opportunity to be his witness but allowed fear of rejection to keep you from opening your mouth? We will be talking to nations across the seas for much of the telephone work is hired-out these days. This may be the reason for financial ruin, an opportunity to bring the knowledge of the Lord to all nations!

It's Time To "Talk The Walk"

I have heard it said that Christians can sure 'talk the walk' but can 'they walk the talk'? Meaning that we can say anything, but are we able to practice what we say? It brings a smile to my face when I think that this is our time to talk the walk! It is because of what we are experiencing that we have opportunity. I can only share with you the GREAT relief I am feeling when creditors call me, just knowing that I can be a blessing even though I feel awful that I can not make my payments. Now I feel good about bringing a Well-Word to someone on the other end of my phone. We can say something like, “I am counting on God to save me.” Although we might wonder how or when that salvation will come, we know that HE is our only salvation. The story of the Israelites, when the promised land was swiftly swept from them, comes to my mind. It attributes their lack of faith as what caused them to wander the wilderness for 40 years but during those 40 years they knew they had a promise and that it would be fulfilled, they just did not know when. As we give witness of God’s greatness we can stand on the same principle. To God Alone Be The Glory!

During these trying times, we are NOT to glorify the problems, nor even consider Satan, but instead let us glorify GOD alone! EVERY TIME we encounter a problem we are to lift up God’s name and give him our thanks. We can do this when the creditors call. If we say nothing more than, “I am so sorry you have to call me, but somehow God will bring me through this!” We do not have to use the old techniques we were taught, you know, things like ask if they know Jesus, or if they want to get saved. I am not saying that our God will not give us the unction to ask those questions but all we need to do is bring God’s name into the conversation and trust him to make himself visible! WOW, this is an awesome day in which to be alive!

Which "Well-Word"?

I am suggesting that we have a ‘well-word’ ready. We can find preparation for this day by using a Psalm, after all, David was a wonderful witness for God, or we can use Ephesians 3:13-21. Please let us paraphrase everything and not try to use the Kings James English. We need to feel free with paraphrasing for we want Christ to speak through us directly into that particular person’s life. If asked when are we going to pay our bill we can say, “As soon as God gives me the money I will forward it to you!” Always end the conversation on a positive note with trust in God.

Stacy Is Still Teaching

Terrie and I were listening to Stacy’s teaching “Tabernacle Inside/Out” and he said, “We have gone through a long phase of revelation knowledge, but little application.” When he said that, God revealed to us the principle of wine. It is necessary for grapes to ripen, be picked, crushed and then the juice has to age. Jesus brought forth the finest wine at the wedding feast. Do we not see that today is that wedding feast. I can see God growing in his people all these centuries, then I can see the crushing which came to Jesus, then the juice, (his spirit), has been fermenting in his people over these last 2 centuries. We are in the testing stage. Is the wine ready? How is that discovered but by testing? The trials and tribulations are the tests and as his people find themselves in the finished stage they are being poured out to the nations!!!!! Perhaps right now we are individually coming to the fullness of the time, but our Father is doing this in his corporate son and we can only imagine what the earth will be like when the fullness comes.

Being attacked on every side? Can’t seem to make ends meet? Collectors calling? Sickness and disease in the family or with friends? Neighbors, co-workers, friends and family at war with each other? No time to do all that is required of you? NO time, no time, no time.

STOP!!!

Take a few minutes and a deep breath or two! Nothing will change, except maybe your attitude. When we have no time, even to spend with our Lord, all is loss.

Our Covenant with God is without repentance. At least on His side. We need to take a good look at our side of the covenant. What is a covenant? “Making an alliance, a contract. To abide, continue, hold up and stand by. A Promise.”

How small a thing a promise is. We make them with our children, hoping they forget. We make them with our spouse, hoping we’ll forget. We make then with our boss, hoping he’ll forget. We make them with creditors, hoping their files burn. But our God, He does not forget!! What He does do, is wait. Patiently waits. For it is in His nature. Occasionally though He will stir us up to get a response. Personally, I would rather stir myself up. You know, David did just that. He and his men had just returned from Aphek to Ziklag to find that the Amalekites had invaded and burned their city to ash, taking everything, from great to small. The Amalekites were a nomadic people needing very little. Usually they killed every thing except some livestock and they only took what was precious and could carry. God, being who he is, had not one killed. Taken were David’s wives, as well as his men’s. Things are looking pretty bad, homes burnt, wives and children taken for sexual means, to be killed when they were finished with them. Exhausted and feeling forsaken David and his men wept till they could weep no more. Then from bad to worse. David’s men were going to stone him for it!! (Does God know how to set the stage or what?) “…But David encouraged himself in the Lord his God”, and then “enquired of the Lord”! As the story goes, God restored everything that was taken and the spoil too!!! 1 Samuel 30 for anyone not familiar, or if you just need to encourage yourself in the Lord.

THIS was David’s covenant with God, he knew who he was in God and who God was in him. Is it yours? I know it’s mine!

It made an impression on me 30 years ago and I still re-read it today. I bring it to remembrance when it’s dark and scary, and can’t pay bills…

Anyone you know?

What's Happening with Us and PSM

Terrie is home and doing better than expected after surgery and she is regaining her strength daily. We are enjoying a fuller relationship in the Lord than either of us ever expected. God is moving mightily in our lives and we are enjoying each others company in a way that is marvelous. I am so grateful my sister is here with me in the ministry. Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall show judgment to the Gentiles. (Mat 12:18)

Our niece, who lives 10 spaces down the road from us, is doing well. She is working hard at managing a “Subway” in Lakeport and raising her 2 small children, Kayla and Zane. We love having them so close that we can interact on a regular basis. Our Mom and Dad are doing very well. Our brother, Bobby, lives with them part time and helps with the 11/2 acre parcel as needed. Altogether we are a happy family and so grateful to our Heavenly Father who has blessed us with abounding love. We are not having a fellowship here at our home any longer as it just kind of fell apart. For those who have gathering on a weekly basis, we commend you and pray for God’s best blessings on your fellowship. For those looking for a gathering in which to participate, we pray you find your heart’s desire with those of like mind. In it all we see The Father’s Hand and thank Him for the increase he bring each of us.

We Need Address Updates We do thank each and everyone for continued prayer and support of this ministry. The months to come promise great things in the Lord. Doors of ministry continue to open into areas of the church through the internet that we never imagined would open. Your prayerful support enables us to continue sharing the Good News of the Happy God, who is Savior of all and condemner of none. Terrie and I love and pray for you continually. May the Lord’s blessing continue to pour forth upon each of you, beyond all you could ask or think. (Eph. 3:20). You’re also welcome to add someone else if you think they would enjoy our materials.

More To Come . . .
